White Cane Walk - Oct. 15

We are having a walk for White Cane Awareness Day, which is October 15. Details of the route are below. More details to come at our regular monthly meeting this Friday October 9.

White Cane walk routeFrom City Hall to Caz's Chowhouse
175 East 2nd Street to 18 E. Brady Street

We will begin the walk at City Hall which is located on the Northwest corner of Cincinnati and 2nd Street.  For those arriving by car, there is parking on the Southeast corner of 2nd and Cincinnati as well as on Cincinnati between 2nd and 1st streets.

There is a small plaza area in front of city hall that is up a couple of steps from the street level.  This is where we will meet prior to the walk.

The walk will begin by heading North on Cincinnati to 1st street.  We will cross 1st street and then make an immediate left turn.

Proceed West on 1st street past the bus stop and then turn right onto a pathway which will take you toward a metallic tower structure that is located in the pathway.  Continue North on the pathway and you will pass the tower and then you will pass the  "Center of the Universe" which you should check out if you have never experienced it before.  The Center of the Universe is a spot at which your voice will reverberate when you talk.

As you continue North on the path, you will reach Archer Street where you will turn to the right and walk a few steps until you reach a pedestrian crossing.

You will cross Archer at which point you will be heading North along the East side of Boston.  You will pass the Hardesty Arts building on your right and there will be some restaurants and bars across the street on your left.

Continue North on Boston for 1 block until you reach Brady Street.

Turn left without crossing Brady and cross over Boston heading West.

Continue on Brady until you reach 18 which is Caz's Chowhouse .  This is where we will be dining.

Update on Bowl-a-thon

Just wanted to thank the people who came out today and helped TCB with their 8th annual Bowl-a-thon! We had 14 bowlers and probably estimated to raise about $500. This is about half of what we've done in the past but any little helps.

TCB is what we make it and it is what helps to make OCB. Thanks again for being a part of the greatest organization ever!

TCB Christmas Party

Hello to all TCB members and friends!

I am getting excited about the upcoming TCB Christmas party and I hope that you are too!

Three snowmen with banner that
says "A Christmas Party"
Fantastic news – our meal will cost $8.95 per person instead of $10.95! Yes, that’s correct. Each individual will need to pay $8, and TCB will pay the balance. We will have turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, cranberry relish, green beans, rolls, and pumpkin pie! All of this for only $8.95 per person.

We also will be playing that favorite game we have played in the past. Some call it the Dirty Santa game, but I don’t like the sound of that. So, we will just call it the gift exchange game. Whatever you want to call it, if you want to play, you will need to bring a wrapped gift. Do not put a name on the package, and it should cost no more than $10. Game rules will be coming in a future email. This is not a gag gift game, but it should be a gift that you yourself wouldn’t mind taking home with you.

We will have more coming in the future about the party, but just be sure to mark it on your calendar and plan to attend!

Date:  Saturday, December 15, 2012
Time:  3:00 PM to 7:00 P.M.
Place:  West Tulsa Free Will Baptist Church Family Life Center
                930 W. 23rd Place, Tulsa, OK

See you there!!!

If you would like to come to the party, but have transportation issues, please call me and we will do what we can to get you there.

July and August TCB Meeting Reminders

Hello to all TCB members and friends!

At the June meeting, members voted to not have a meeting in July. We will however, have a meeting in August and we will have a guest speaker for that  meeting.

A representative from the League of Women Voters will be coming to speak to us at our August meeting to enlighten us on issues that should be very high on our priority list as our right to us as American citizens. They will inform us on how to stay up with the most recent information pertaining to elections and candidates. Come be educated so you can act on your civic duty.

The August TCB meeting will take place on the second Friday of the month, August 10th at the West Tulsa Free Will Baptist Church located at 930 W. 23rd Place. The meeting will begin at 6 PM and we will adjourn no later than 7:30 P.M.. If you plan to eat dinner with us before the meeting, please try to arrive no later than 5:30 P.M.. Cost for dinner is $5 per person, and details of what that will be will be announced as soon as possible.
